this was my frist thanksgiving out of the country. we americans love our holidays and are determined to celebrate... even if we have to eat chickens instead of turkey!

liz and the oven mit! liz is a master chef. she is the brains behind the chicken.check out the beautiful centerpiece emily made. i cut the flowers from the vines growing in out alley and em arranged them! beautious!

this is me with my two new friends johnny and matt with emily and rachel. johnny and matt are from canada. and this was my kiwi friend, emily's, first thanksgiving. we were pretty split down the middle: half americans, half foreigners at the table tonght. it was fun to share with them.

i find that celebrating american holidays such as thanksgiving or even Christmas this year will be, for me, a lot like how a Jew celebrating channakah or yom kippur or passach in the states... sorta quietly in their own homes. here, those are the big holidays and we few Christians will celebrate Christmas without the trees and lights and malls of american. but we will celebrate in groups, large and small. there will be gifts and i hope a renewed persepective of how blessed we truely are. i will celebrate this Christmas within 10km of the birthplace of Messiah. this is itself a gift.
