the monster
at least that's what i'm calling it. what is it? the monster.
it's a timeline. no, not just any ordinary timeline. it is a timeline that will forever change and shape and form and guide my reading of TANAK (the OT for you layones). why? well, because it is the most indepth i have ever studied the Bible in my entire life. not only am i documenting (in as close to chronological order as any human mind can figure) the history of Israel from the calling of samuel through the Babylonian exile (a mere 800 yr span) i am also including major events of the world surrounding little Israel (Philistia, Egypt, Syria, Phonoecia, Edom, Moab, Assyria - for instance) as well as the activity of the prophets.
ok, pause. the prophets make SO MUCH sense when they are read in context to the world around them. so kings only mentions a little about the world of Israel in each chapter and is insanely vague. the prophets give us a look at the life of the people. kings says that they were sinning, jeremiah tells us that the people had other jews as slaves! that the king was not paying his people to build him a palace! that God was no longer listening to the prayers of his people!
which brings me to my next big project... someday i wanna put the book of jeremiah's prophecies in order (chronologically) just to see how it would read.
for now the beast is almost haldway done. and on thursday it will be completed(because it's due). this is one of the best projects i have ever encountered! but it's really mindbogglingly hard! haha!
but i LOVE it!
