the W factor

yes, he's coming. american flags line the streets apposite israeli flags. the suites are ready and the red carpet is out. isreal is spending close to $25,000 per hour that bush is in the country. this includes added security(1/3 of isreal's police force, snipers, patrols, anti-terrorism and bomb squads) as well as the economic stress on the country. many main roads in and out of down town will be closed all day and so many businesses will have no, well, business while bush is here. but that's just the way it is. i could get distracted by all the fuss and fanfare...

but really, i'm more interested in why he has come. bush is a few months away from the end of his presidential career. and the citizens back home are entrusted with deciding the route of america's future. and not only our future, but (let's be honest) that of the world. being here has put the weight of our political decisions on a global scale. and i cannot stress enough how important it is that we have a president in the white house who supports israel. these are God's people... and they will despised by the world... but they will not be forgotten, and there will be punishment for those who do not acknowledge His love for His people and for the land He's given them - several times actually through abraham, moses, cyrus, the UN - but always by His hand.

so right now i am praying for our next president. that they have a heart softened toward this land. and for our current president... that he just doesn't do anything really really stupid!
